Gustavo Paixão

Principal Software Developer & Technical Lead

AI without the hype.

For 20+ years I've turned business problems into software that ships. Today I build with AI agents every day, I share where AI actually helps and where it doesn't, and every decision is still mine.

How I use AI

AI agents build with me. I stay in charge.

Every feature goes from my requirements to a spec, a plan and code, with specialist agents at each step and my review between every one of them.

Ross Video

Broadcast and live-production video technology

September 2022 – PresentThree roles, from developer to principal
  1. Principal Software Developer / Tech Lead
July 2026 – Present (Lead duties Jan 2026)I lead my team on Indigo, from architecture decisions (ADRs) and the engineering roadmap to alignment with other teams, and I still write code every day.
  2. Senior Software Developer
June 2024 – June 2026The Streamline Pro web video editor, and the Adobe Premiere Pro and EDIUS connectors.
  3. Software Developer
Sept 2022 – June 2024Media asset management (MAM): refactoring core services and improving the CI pipelines.
  • As team lead, I work with my team and other teams to build Indigo, Ross's web-based media workflow platform, launched at NAB 2026.
  • As a senior developer, I was on the team that built the Streamline Pro web video editor, where journalists edit their stories in the browser.
  • My team took on a large stack migration for one of our products. With AI, I built an internal tool that brings developers, QA and Product Verification together and gives everyone more visibility during regression testing.
  • I'm the team's Security Champion. I automated the security scans in our pipelines and drove the fixes that closed all critical and high-severity vulnerabilities.
  • I brought AI-assisted development (Claude Code, Cursor) into the team's everyday work: prototyping, refactoring and test coverage.

Hootsuite

Senior Software Developer · Vancouver, Canada (Remote)

March 2022 – August 2022

My team worked on how the platform handles personal data (PII), to meet GDPR and other privacy regulations as well as the rules each social network sets for its data. I built back-end services and workflows and maintained the CI/CD pipelines.

Bank of Canada

Web Developer & Server-Side Support · Ottawa, Canada

March 2015 – March 2022

My team and I led the internal tool that publishes the Bank's data to its public website. Each data set had its own settings and publishing schedule. I also built REST APIs for the Bank's financial and economic data, and fixed performance problems on the web servers.

Dialoga Consultoria TI & Telecom

Senior System Architect · Recife, Brazil

September 2011 – January 2014

I defined the requirements and technology stack for every new project, and led data modeling and development for platforms used by clients of all the major Brazilian telecom operators, mobile and data.

Main projects

  • TEM – Telecom Expense Management: gave companies control of their mobile and data spending across Brazil's operators. For a major customer with 6,000+ mobile lines, it cut the mobile bill by 30%.
  • M2M Manager: managed the data traffic of SIM cards in machine-to-machine devices such as POS terminals and GPS trackers, so customers could control their connectivity costs.
  • Linux (CentOS) / Apache / MySQL
  • PHP (OOP)
  • Shell scripting
  • Memcache
  • JavaScript, jQuery & Bootstrap
  • Git & Vagrant
  • Data modeling

Earlier work

System architect, full-stack developer and software analyst

2007 – 2015 (Canada & Brazil)

I built billing systems, distributed platforms and e-commerce sites for telecom and media companies, including TIM Brasil, Claro, Manwin, LesPAC and Moroccanoil.

What I've built

Products I founded and run end to end, from the idea and the specs to the code and the store releases, and platforms I built for clients.

Palpite PRO

Founder, product owner and full-stack architect

Sports prediction pools with friends: private and public leagues, score predictions before lock time, and live leaderboards. A free social game, not betting. One backend serves web, iOS and Android in 8 languages. I own the full lifecycle, from ideation and architecture to store releases and maintenance.

How it's built

  • Multi-LLM layer: one provider interface over OpenAI and Google Gemini powers AI Insights and championship imports, with cached results and metered token usage.
  • Spec-driven agent pipeline: 300+ feature specs built with Claude Code and 19 role agents, backed by 800+ test files across API, web and mobile.
  • Real-time at scale: Socket.IO with a Redis adapter for live leaderboards, and BullMQ workers for scoring and live scores from API-Football.
  • Automated delivery: Jenkins, Docker, Vercel and Fastlane ship the API, web and store releases, with separate staging and production environments.

Ronne AI Marketplace

Creator & maintainer

A registry, installed on people's own servers, for the skills, agents, rules, hooks and MCP servers that AI coding tools use. Anyone can propose an item, and nothing reaches the tools until someone else has reviewed and approved it. I designed it and build it with an AI coding agent, and released two versions in its first week.

Read the build story

How it's built

  • Review before release: every item, and every change to one, needs an approval from someone who isn't the author, and a released version never changes.
  • One format, three tools: the rmk command and an MCP server install items into Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, and send what people write there back for review.
  • Four databases: SQLite by default, plus MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL, with every change tested on all four.
  • A rule for its own code: every dependency must be free to redistribute and free of known vulnerabilities, and the build checks it on every change.

Dommy — Domino Score Tracker

Founder & iOS developer

Keeps score in dominoes games, with custom leaderboards and data saved on the phone. I built it natively in Swift and SwiftUI, with help from Cursor.

Loyalty platform

System architect & full-stack developer

A loyalty platform for the salon and beauty industry, used by Oligo Professional and DesignME. One codebase serves every brand, each with its own deployment pipeline, loyalty rules and settings. I designed the server infrastructure, the data models on MongoDB and MySQL, and the Next.js front end.
